How to Not Cancel Halloweenđ
How we hold a Halloween Party at our Online Office!
Although not traditionally celebrated in my country, Halloween has always been my favorite celebration. In recent years, many people, mainly teenagers, became interested in hosting and going to Halloween parties, so itâs kind of a trend nowadays. To be honest with you, Iâm not a big fan of huge parties, but Iâm a sucker for horror movies and dressing up.
Last year, we hosted a small Halloween party at the office and it was pretty fun. This year, we took it online. How we did it? Cream puff.
Pick a good haunted platform
This one was pretty easy. There are tons of platforms which you can use to host parties or gatherings, but if you want your party or event to be as close to reality as possible, you should look for a virtual platform like Ovice where you can see what your colleagues are doing at the office even when theyâre off-camera or not talking to you by voice. The best part is that you can customize your own background layout to make your workspace look more creepy. The service offers many layouts with affordable deals but you can always upload your own layout if youâre good at designing.
Below, you can see the before and after of our workspace layout at Ovice.
Send a freaky invitation
Halloween invitations are always a frightfully good way to kick off your bash in a fun spooky style.
I made sure to provide the date of the party and I sent it to my colleagues on Slack.
Dressing up
When the time of the party was about to start, each one of us changed their profile picture on Ovice to a scary version and also changed our names to create a more creepy vibe full of suspense. Some of us did Halloween makeup, others dressed up as scary characters, and the rest used Snap Camera to add a Halloween filter to their face, and it was pretty convincing.
Plan your Halloween party schedule
Frankly, itâs the first time that I host a Halloween party online. The only thing that kept me worried is that people would get bored and start muting their mics. Luckily, I thought about making short fun activities to do during the party to keep everyone distracted and most importantly scared to their bones. Some of the activities that we did were:
- Telling short scary stories with creepy background music.
- âTry not to get scared challengeâ.
- Sharing our Halloween best off.
I normally donât get scared easily, but trust me, having to listen to loud monster screams and jumpscares while everyone is talking in a freaky tone on Ovice got me really horrified! It was a fun experience though!
